赞同大鹏老师的解答，我看都不需要依据，道理很简单。比如在80年代，英语说in the eighties. 因为80年代包含80-89，eighty, eighty-one, eighty-two ... eighty-nine 八十年代一共包含十个eighty, 当然要用复数了。

句子没问题。你的断句不对，应该是...pinned on/ upside down. upside down 是固定用法，作状语，和on 没关系。on 是受pin的影响。
