所属格一般是不会修饰介词短语的。你应该提供完整的句子，不能单独看，有断章取义的可能。有些不一定是所属格。比如：my mother's in the kitchen 会不会是 My mother is in the kitchen. 或有没有可能是(a friend of )my mother's in the kitchen 或其他。
