所有格 sth of sb 的用法问题

陆谷孙教授主编的《英汉大词典》在 of 词条有例子：

the house of my sister 我姐姐(或妹妹)的房子

但我在笔记中记录过，说 the house of my father 是错误的。

请问类似 the house of my sister, the house of my father 这样的用法到底对不对？

这类用法最好用's所有格来表示所属关系：

my sister's house 我姐姐(或妹妹)的房子

my father's house 我父亲的房子

【1】's表示“拥有关系”

Tom's house 汤姆的房子

Mike's hat 迈克的帽子

备注: 's表示后面的名词归前面名词所拥有。

【2】of表示“属于关系”

the lid of the box 盒子盖

the roof of the house 房子的屋顶
