about six hours a day, 180 days a year：180 days a year 是 about six hours a day 的同位语。是根据 about six hours a day 计算出来的每年白天的时间。因为前面有了for，同位语就不再加for了。

There可否放到最后或去掉
there 是个地点副词，相当于 in that country， in that place。There 50 per cent or more of the population is/are illiterate.【翻译】那里，50%或更多的人口是文盲。既然如此，there 可以放在句首，也可以放在句末。去掉的话，语法不错，但影响意思。但不能是There be （存在句）。
