less than 和time的定语问题

1. This is the first time for sb to do sth

曹老师您在一个问题中认为这是错误的结构，应该改为：This is the first time that somebody has done something

问题:不定式作定语时与被修饰名词之间可以是动状关系，例如：Autumn is the best season to visit Beijing.那为什么the time for sb to do 这种结构是错误的呢？

2. He lost by less than 100 votes

他以少于100的票数落选

问题: 请教曹老师，去掉than可以吗？我感觉这个than有点儿多余；另外，这个 than后面的比较分句该如何还原呢？是He lost by less than 100votes are 吗？这个less代词在比较分句中作表语。

1 英语表达有一个习惯问题。当表语为序数词+time时，是不能用不定式复合结构作定语，而需要用定语从句。

2 less than在此是习语用法，用于一个副词，修饰100。意为不到100，less than 100作votes的限定语。这不是比较分句，不存在所谓还原问题。
