最刚开始我是将这个句话中的no more than视为副词结构，相当于only或者just，转换一下就就是They had only satisfied themselves that Ron would make a full recover on their last visit to the ward（故事背景：Ron是Harry Potter的好朋友，因为误服毒酒导致住院，They指代的是Ron的父母）。但是satisfy在原文中确是原形？
然后我觉得这句还可以不可以变成They had done no more（more为宾语成分）than they would do ____（省略成分） to satisfy themselves that....（不定式to被省略了）。
虽然句子意思比较清晰明了，但是不知道怎么去理解这个句子的结构，希望老师能够不吝解答~~~~

不要想多了，你的第一种理解是对的。
这里的 no more than 作习语看待，意思是“只不过”“仅仅”“只是”等，相当于only或nothing but。do no more than do sth是英语中的常用表达。例如：
He was licensed to do no more than send a message. 允许他做的事情只不过是捎个信而已。
Half the people who declare they like gardening do no more than play at it. 有一半声称自己喜欢园艺的人只不过是玩玩而已。
原句意为：他们上次去病房探视，只是确认了罗恩完全能够康复。
