wait加不定式的用法

We couldn’t wait to comment on the incident until we had someone in custody, not after the way the debate ended.

1.请问can't wait to do是还不是有两种意思：一种是“等不及做某事、迫不及待要做某事”，另一种是“不能等着做某事”，我有点琢磨不明白，怎么分辨是哪种意思？

2.还有until从句是修饰comment还是修饰wait。修饰comment比较好理解。但是如果我认为until从句修饰wait，表示wait结束的时间点，然后不定式是结果状语，我这样分析对吗，如果错了那么错在哪里？

=We couldn’t wait until we had someone in custody to comment on the incident

wait后接二个状语：不定式作目的状语，until从句为时间状语。我们不能等到...才...。

1. can't wait to do 没有两种意思，只有一种。字面：不能等着做某事 = 等不及做某事 = 迫不及待要做某事。

2. until 从句是修饰 wait，严格讲，是修饰 couldn’t wait。真实意思是，“在某事发生之前不能等”。
