最高级用法（同时涉及其前the的有无）

I go to the market, find what is best and what is the best price, and buy it.

请问划线部分，为什么 ①要用最高级，而且 ②划线部分的best不加the？

又例如： Parents always privide what is best for their child and they do hope their child's life can be better than theirs.

简单理解即可：

形容词最高级作表语时，可以省略the；作定语时不可以省略，因为被最高级修饰的那个名词需要冠词the。

what is best ：最好的商品（商品作主语，best 作表语）

what is the best price：最实惠的价格（best 作定语，price 需要冠词，用a 肯定不行，必须用the，最高级表示独一无二的价格嘛。）

说话人是水果蔬菜零售商，每天早上去批发市场进货，他要挑最好的，最便宜的。这就是为什么要用最高级。作表语的形容词最高级前的the以及副词最高级前的the不是定冠词，而是副词表示强调意义。这个the在不强调的时候就可以省略，用了就是强调。这就是为什么最高级前没有the，省略了。详细内容参读以上链接。
