yet 的意思是“但是”“然而”“可是”，表转折。用于此义时，一般词典将其视为连词。如：

We thought the idea sounded tempting, yet common sense told us it wouldn't work. 我们认为这主意听起来很吸引人，但是常识告诉我们它行不通。
