怎么理解习语“sth knows no bounds” 中 “know”的用法

如：At the next stage, from three to five years old,curiosity knows no bounds.

Knowledge knows no bounds. 知识是没有穷尽的。

...

这里的主语一般为“物”，所以谓语动词 know 不能理解为“知道”吧？

这里的know, 相当于see, 如果你查the free dictionary, 可以得知这种用法中，know =see. 然后查see, 其中一个解释为：is characterized by... 就是这个意思。当然，作为习语,用know时不要替换为see，但意思是基本一样的。
