向尊敬的曹老师请教

例句：

1、There is such an apple on the table

问题：请教曹老师，以上例句按照现代语法分析，such为限定词，修饰apple；如果按照传统语法分析，应该分析为形容词吗？如果是形容词，是不是也可以改写成an such apple.可是如果这样的话，such就不能是限定词了。

2、He never showed talent in any directions whatever.

问题：看到过曹老师的解答，在这里的whatever是形容词作后置定语；可是我查科林斯词典，并未收录whatever为形容词的用法。

1 当一个名词前既有such，也有不定冠词时，such必须放在不定冠词之前。这和传统语法或现代语法的分析无关，语法只是对语言现象进行解释。a such apple是错误的。

2 《韦氏高阶》whatever作为形容词释义2及例句：

not used before a noun : of any kind or amount at all : whatsoever

There's no food whatever.

There's no evidence whatever to support your theory.

但牛津和柯林斯词典把这种用法的whatever分析为副词。
