句子替换、独立主格、介词引导名词表达一个句子疑问

词典有这样一个句子：

In his preoccupation with Lily, Crook had neglected everything

看到这个句子，我突然想起：

missing Lily ，Crook had neglected everything

我有个猜想：如果介词in+含有动词变形或者意思的名词组构成一个结构。比如：

In explanation of 解释

In favor of 赞成,主张

In support of 支持

In need of 需要

In possession of 拥有

in defense of

这些搭配，能否也都像In his preoccupation with Lily这样表达？

1. in his possession of enough evidence , he was investigated on a charge of murder.

已及独立主格这种表达？

2. possessing of enough evidence，he was investigated on a charge of murder.

英语有些搭配属于固定搭配，注意固定这两个字的意思。如果能改变，那就不是固定搭配了。

你提供的两个句子，应该是你自己写的，因为英语不这么用。

1. In his possession of enough evidence, he was investigated on a charge of murder.

his 应该去掉，即In possession of enough evidence，而且句子逻辑不通，一般表示有足够证据证明自己无罪才可以这样用。这个句子是调查他有罪，前后矛盾。如果介词短语看作是垂悬修饰语，那也是太不规范用法。

2. Possessing of enough evidence，he was investigated on a charge of murder. 如果这样用，possess 是及物动词，不能有of. 改为Possessing enough evidence。而且句子逻辑和上句一样，前后矛盾。

备注：以上介词短语相当于同根动词加名词结构，即in possession of sth=possess sth
