at school表示“在上学”与“在学校”

at school其实有两种含义：

1）（英美通用）表地点--- in the school building；

2）（英式英文习语）表学习--- attending school as a student；

在句子，at school究竟取两种含义的哪种含义，通过具体的语境可以很容易判断出来，无需“杞人忧天”，呵呵：

We’ve got two children at school, and one at university.

两个小孩读中（小）学，一个小孩读大学。--->表学习，不表地点；

I can get some work done while the kids are at school.

小孩在学校的时候，我可以做些活儿。---->表地点，不表学习；

小窍门：形式上，可以把at school看着介词片语（介词+名词），介词片语位于be动词后面，常表方位（位置）-- 说明主语在哪里。---->表地点

即使将 at school 翻译成“在学校”，也是意指“在学校求学”“在学校求学期间”。注意体会：

Hilary was popular at school. 希拉里在学校里很受欢迎。

He’s doing reasonably well at school. 他在学校表现还算不错。

Do you do science at school? 你在学校里学自然科学吗?

Sam’s always getting into fights at school. 萨姆老是在学校打架。

The children seem very happy at school. 看来孩子们在学校里很高兴。
