The same ... as 在实际使用中的问题

各位老师，我看到比较从句有时会有限定词的比较，比如: China has as many English learners as America has English speakers.

那么the same...as引导的比较句型能否也像上面这样使用？

比如：Factory A has the same number of workers as that school has students.

理论上是完全可以这么说的，但你不觉得这是舍近求远吗？直接用as many 多简单！
