A man may lead a horse to the water, but he cannot make it drink

The wise saying “A man may lead a horse to the water, but he cannot make it drink” means that there is always something that can't be satisfactory no matter how we force it. I'd like to share my opinion about the reason behind the saying and the learning we can get.

I want to point out two main reasons which are the violation of objective laws and the neglect of subjective initiative.

Everything has it's own objective law. The best way to tackle them is respect their laws, for the objective laws can not be changed. For example, the children learns by imitation. So when we want to teach them something, being a model and doing it first always the most efficient way.

We human have subjective initiative. The horse the saying mentioned can be compared to the student. It's important to inspire the subjective initiative in the education. Thus we say “Interest is the best teacher”. At work, the same reason works. We finish the task better when we think highly of it heartily.

So next time we lead the horse to the river, we should think about whether it is thirsty.

The wise saying “A man may lead a horse to the water, but he cannot make it drink” means that there is always something that can't be satisfactory no matter how we force it. I'd like to share my opinion about the reason behind the saying and the moral we can learn from it.

think there are two reasons here —— the violation of objective laws and the neglect of subjective initiative.

Everything has it's own objective law. The best way to tackle them is to respect their laws, for the objective laws can not be changed. For example, the children learn by imitation. So when we want to teach them something, our being a model and doing it first always is the most efficient way.

We humans have subjective initiative. The horse mentioned in the saying can be compared to the student. It's important to inspire the student's subjective initiative in the education. Thus we say “Interest is the best teacher”. It's also true when it comes to work. We finish a task better when we think highly of it and deal with it whole-heartedly.

So next time before we lead a horse to the river, we should make sure that it is thirsty.
