lay bare：习语。“揭露”。

原本为“动 + 宾 +宾补（形容词）”结构：

lay tensions bare 

因宾语太长，把宾补 bare 前置。

lay （动）bare （宾补）tensions ...（宾）

一般而言，宾补是不能前置的。有时，为了照顾句子匀称，作宾补的形容词可以置于宾语之前。例如：

Push open the door. = Push the door open. 推开房门。

Make clear all the questions. = Make all the questions clear. 澄清所有问题。
