介词短语作时间状语,正确吗?

 

以下三句中粗体字现在分词短语都作原因状语,是这样吗?

2.Realizing they were negotiating, Jendary raised the stakes and offered a piece of apple. 延德里意识到这是在讨价还价,于是加大筹码,又给了一片苹果。

3.Thinking the orange must have rolled off somewhere inaccessible, Shewman gave her another one. 修曼以为橘子准是滚到一边拿不到了,就又给了一个。

4.Giving in, she gave him another one, then saw that he had been hiding his orange underneath his foot. 她让步了,又给了他一个,随后却看见他把橘子藏在脚下。

英语能作状语的结构有多种。如果是从属连词引导状语从句或介词短语作状语,通常通过连词和介词的词义即可判断是什么性质的状语。非谓语动词作状语,则主要通过非谓语动词和句子谓语之间的逻辑关系来进行判断。

1 Like the time he helped save a family member. (比如有次它救了一个家族成员。)

 这里不是一个完整的句子,只是一个介词短语。time之后是省略了关系副词that的定语从句。这个介词短语显然不是时间状语,而是对前一句的内容举例作补充说明。你可称其为补充性状语或举例状语。

2.Realizing they were negotiating, Jendary raised the stakes and offered a piece of apple. 延德里意识到这是在讨价还价,于是加大筹码,又给了一片苹果。

这个句子的现在分词短语即可理解为原因状语,也可理解为时间状语。我觉得时间状语更为准确,When he realised...

这个分词短语是原因状语。
