The government managed to have two chemical factories built, though (it was) opposed by the citizens. 连词后的省略,是去掉“主语 + be”,剩下doing 或 done,不存在having been done。

I was riding my bike very fast round that corner when I hit a stone and came to grief over there.when在这里的用法,不是从属连词,而是并列连词。表示“正在此时”(= and just then, and suddenly)。 He was opening a bottle of aci...

one's sense of duty是什么意思

If you want children to work hard you must appeal to their interest instead of their sense of duty.【翻译】如果你想要孩子努力学习,你就必须激发他们的兴趣, 而不是他们的责任感。

If free

nore than/nore…than作何解?

pull on the line的理解

A small fishing boat was carried miles out to sea by the powerful fish as it pulled on the line.【翻译】一条小渔船被一条咬住钩的强有力的大鱼拖到了几英里以外的海面上。

put your shoes on my face是什么意思

but unlike you put your shoes on my face.—— 这一部分有误。 I like your smile, but dislike it when you put your shoes on my face.
