amazed是形容词，为什么要把它理解成被动语态呢？按你的逻辑，I'm excited to be here. 这也是被动语态啦？你觉得符合逻辑么？

另外，你的所谓"改成主动：To find that the goddess turned out to be a very modern-looking woman amazed them.",这是不定式作主语，和主动被动没关系，这句可以变化为：It amazed them to find that the goddess turned out to be a very modern-looking woman. it 是形式主语。

如果你喜欢用被动形式，可以这样：They were amazed by the fact that the goddess turned out to be a very modern-looking woman.
