请问pick up 中up是副词，但是单纯看up是介词，如何区分？多谢！

有的短语，动词后面加副词或者动词后面加介词，我怎么区别后面到底是介词还是副词呢？

一般来说，介词后能跟代词，副词不行。比如：pick it up 但不能说pick up it. look for it 没问题，说明for 是介词。有时和习惯用法有关。那么究竟哪个短语是由副词还是介词组成，唯一可靠的方法就是查字典。最重要的是知道如何使用，区分介词还是副词本身不太重要。如：The free dictionary，一般短语在idiom栏目会会告诉你什么时候，动词和副词/介词之间可以插入代词或名词，什么时候不可以。

例如：pick up

1. verb Literally, to grasp something (as with one's hands) and lift it up vertically. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "pick" and "up."

7. verb To accumulate something. （一般不可改变，不能说pick speed up ）The car picked up speed as it careened down the hill.
