No. 2 Senior High School前面用不用定冠词

Our school is playing against No. 2 Senior High School.

句子来自2019版人教版高中英语新教材必修一的 Unit 3（p44）。

这里的 No. 2 Senior High School前面没有用定冠词，但有人说也可以加上定冠词。不知道真相是什么，谢谢专家老师指点。

一般来说，作为学校名称，使用零冠词较为常见。但有时也可以用定冠词。下面是薄冰《高级英语语法》第76页的解释：

有the常见于美国英语，没有the常见于英国英语。在冠词的用法上，美国英语有鲜明的简化趋势，常用零冠词。

1.表示时间上。all (the) afternoon, all (the) winter, all (the) week 等

2.表示疾病上。(the) measles, (the) mumps,(the) flu等等

3.表示河流瀑布上。(the) Clear Water, (the) Black Creek,(the) Niagara Falls等

当然也有相反的。如: go into (the) hospital, in (the) hospital, go to (the) university, at (the) university等

总之，有些词前面用不用the不是对错问题，而是英美语的用法问题。
