问：What does the writer think of life on Mars ?

答：Better than life on the Earth ?

这里的think of 我感觉有3种分析：

1）固定短语think of +名词，我认为这里不是。

2）认为这里的of=about，即What does the writer think about life on Mars ? 这样的话，就是think what 这样的结构了，我认为也不是。

3）只能是这种变体does the writer think what of life on Mars ？

究竟是哪种分析呢？不懂。

另外，回答的一句Better than life on the Earth, 可以用it还是one替换life吗？即Better than it/one on the Earth ?

think作认为、觉得解的时候，只能后接that从句作宾语。如果有人问你 What do you think? 他是在询问你的想法、看法。你是无法回答他的问题的，因为你不知道他在询问你关于什么的想法或看法。所以问话人需要一个范围状语，of/about something. 例如，What do you think of this car. (你觉得/认为这辆车怎么样——关于这辆车，你的看法是什么？）。你的回答是，I think this car is too expensive. 即需要用一个that从句来回答what。换句话说，提问中的what是think的宾语，是对一个that从句提问的。of介词短语是范围状语。你的”3 只能是变体...“ 是一个严重错误的句子。这就是你随意改动的恶果。

Better than life on the Earth？你确定回答的句子用问号吗？life在此为不可数名词，不可以用one替代。这里是替代，不是指代，所以也不能用it。
