out of room 和 out of the door 都表示“在房间的外面”。严格说来，out of the door 是“出门”的意思。

I woke up early and rushed out of the door in my eagerness to get to know my new school. 我一大早醒来就冲出家门，迫不及待地想要了解我的新学校。

又如：

Rick turned and ran out of the door. 里克转身从门口跑出来。

They stopped me going out of the door. 他们阻止我出门。

A stranger came out of the door. 一个陌生人走出门来。

I followed him out of the door and down the stairs. 我跟着他出门，下了楼梯。

也就是说，out of the door 的意思是“经过门来到房间外面”，所以如果一个人是从窗户跳出来的，就不宜说 out of the door，比如我们把一个小偷锁在房间里，结果过了一会儿，我们发现他在屋的外面，我们再次抓住他，问他“你是怎么出来的？”，此时应说：How did you get out of the room？而不宜说：How did you get out of the door？因为我们不知道他是如何出来的——也许他是从窗户出来的，或是从天花板出来的，或者从墙上打了个洞出来的……请看下面的对话：
