上面图片当中的最后一句话here's what researchers think is happening，我觉得在think后面应该加上it才对，这个it就是指代着上面所描述的猫下坠的现象。

请教，这样理解是否正确？

So, here's what researchers think is happening. ——在think后面不可以加上it，这是嵌入式名词性关系分句。researchers think 为嵌入部分，可以省掉不说，what is happening 为名词性关系分句，what 作句子主语。关于嵌入式名词性关系分句，就是在名词性关系分句中加上一个“主谓结构”（researchers think），让what is happening 做其宾语，但位置放在what 之后。例如：

1. Say what you think is most urgent.
拣要紧的说。《新英汉大辞典》
2. Just do what you think is right.《牛津词典》
3. This is what he thinks is important.
【分析第三句】what is important 是 he thinks的宾语从句。what=the thing which, 所以本句等于：
This is the thing which he thinks is important. 这就成了嵌入式定语从句了。
