Living without an aim is like sailing without a campus


There are lots of wise sayings underlying the importance of aims, such as “Living without 

an aim is like sailing without a campus.” and “Other men live to eat, while I eat to live” .

But why is it necessary to have an aim in our life? I’d like to share my opinion.

The aim makes us move. We all have some idle time more or less. What makes us live pointlessly is the lack of aims. Only if we have an aim can we know what to do and then start 

to do it.

The aim gives us strength. No one can achieve something without suffering, and no one can get through it without an aim. When we have a hard time, it’s the aim that supports 

our soul.

The aim defines who we are. It has wide representations of our life ——the goal we want to 

achieve, the life we want to live, the man we want to be, etc. Without aims, we finally 

become nobody and fade in the tides of history as if we never existed.

A proper aim gives us motivation, strength, and ultimately a meaningful life. So it is 

important.
