现在表将来

我们都知道，当主句为将来时态或表示将来意义时，时间和条件的状语从句必须用一般现在时表将来。那么当主语不是将来时，从句是将来时，也要用现在时表将来吗？如：

When I talked with my grandma on the phone, she sounded weak, but by the time we ________ up, her voice had been full of life.

A. were hanging

B. had hung

C. hung

D. would hang

你在讲述你打电话这个过程时，你的思绪（同时你也引导听话人的思绪）随着事件的进展向时间轴的右方（将来方向）移动，当你的思绪移到你挂电话的时候，这就是你关注的时间节点，因此你用一般过去时表示在你关注的那个过去时间发生并结束的动作。而你奶奶的声音有微弱转变为充满活力却是在你即将挂电话之前发生的，你挂电话的时候她的声音已经充满了活力，所以用过去完成时。

正确答案为C，一般过去时。
