when doing sth与on doing sth的区别
After / When we were informed the flight would be delayed, we made other arrangements. 在我们得知飞机要推迟起飞后，我们另作了安排。
After / On being informed the flight would be delayed, we made other arrangements. (译文同上)
请问：第二句为什么用on being informed，而没有根据第一句中的when而用when being informed？when doing sth与on doing sth的区别是什么？

▲on doing sth 属介词短语作状语，表示“一……就……”，侧重一先一后的行为。如：
On arriving at the hotel, she called her mother. 一到旅馆, 她就给母亲打了电话。
▲when doing sth 是省略形式的状语从句，分词的逻辑主语是主句的主语，表示“当……时”，有时候也可表“一……就……”的意义。如：
When staying at home, I often play chess with my grandpa. 在家时，我常和爷爷下棋。(When staying at home = When I stay at home)
When seeing her mother, the little girl dropped her toy and rushed to her. 一看到妈妈，小姑娘就丢下玩具向她跑去。(When seeing her mother = When / As soon as she saw her mother = On seeing her mother)
▲after“在……之后”，after doing中的after既可以当作介词也可以当作连词，当作连词时的语法功能与when相同。
