比如英语不仅可以说quite by accident, completely by accident,而且可以说entirely by accident, purely by accident等。如:Helen got into acting purely by accident. We met each other again completely by accident.

▲若只是一般地“叫(或请)某人做某事”,英语不用call sb to do sth,可根据情况使用ask [tell] sb to do sth等,但可以用call on / upon sb to do sth,该结构有两个含义,一是表示“叫(请)某人做某事”,二是表示“号召某人做某事”。如:The boss called on me to wait for him. The Party called on us to stu...

动词 cancel 后面好像通常不接动词的(即既不接不定式也不接动名词),遇此情况可以考虑改用其他相关表达,如give up going on a trip to the seaside,若一定要用cancel,可用cancel the trip to the seaside。

没错,答案就是would have got lost,不能是had got lost或would get lost。请注意句中的without which,它隐含有一个条件,相当于if we hadn’t had a map。

整个的for reasons that… Official policy has changed, for reasons that remain obscure. Flight delays do occur, for r...

BrE used to say that one important fact has to be accepted as true for something else to happen, be true etc.(要是…… We’ll leave on Tuesday—always assumin...
