问题 “to filter out”中out词性

...“what is unique”前面是动词，所以“what is unique”是宾语从句。可是out不是介词吗？  有一个猜想不知道对不对，请各位老师指正。句中是to do不定式做主语，因此可以把to后的filter out看成整体，相当于动词。
