形容一个人的高矮，应用tall和short，习惯上不用high和low。

He was tall and quite good-looking. 他既高大又英俊。

She is quite tall for her age. 就她的年龄来说，她的个子相当高。

The boy is too short to reach the top of the shelf. 那男孩太矮了，够不着书架的顶层。

Despite the fact that she is short, she is an excellent basketball player. 尽管她个子矮，她却是个出色的篮球运动员。

但是，low可用于表示事物的“矮”。如：

The post office is a low, two-story building. 邮局是一个很矮的两层楼建筑。

A line of low hills was seen in the distance. 远处可以看到一排矮山。

拓展：tall 表示某物或某人从顶部到底部的距离，其反义词是 short (矮)；high 表示某物高出地面的距离，其反义词是 low(低)。如果一定要用low说明“人”，我们设想这样一种情景：父亲比儿子 tall, 但如果儿子站到椅子上，我们则说儿子比父亲 high，或者说父亲比儿子low。
