1.我认为这里的coming 应该理解为动名词。不宜理解为现在分词，因为represent后面的宾语为the earth coming back to life这个整体，相当于the earth's(所有格）coming back to life。它和后面的best wishes for new beginnings并列。如果理解为现在分词，那么earth似乎成了中心词，represent the earth 在此语境不太合适，因为文章讲的是春去冬来，新的一年的开始这样一个现象，而不是重点说地球本身如何，因此这里把coming to life理解为现在分词做后置定语在此语境不太合乎语言逻辑。的确，在很多语境，动名词还是分词有时不是容易区分的，所以人们统称为Ving形式。
