新概念四第七课有一个句子：The further off this solid obstruction, the longer time will elapse for the return of the echo.

我自己试着还原了句子的初始表达：The time for the return of the echo off this solid obstruction will elapse long.

请问我还原得对吗？如果对的话，off this solid obstruction就是echo的定语，而如果我要把the further这句省略部分补齐的话，就是 the further the echo is off the solid obstruction，那off结构就是个表语了。请问我的理解是哪里出了问题呢？

你的理解和断句不对，应该这样：The further off / this solid obstruction (is), the longer time for the return of the echo will elapse. the longer time 是一个整体，作主语，will elapse是谓语动词。
