developing和development的选择
我觉得这两个句子中的 developing 和development 最好不互换。第一句中的 prevent cancer from developing 意思是“阻止癌症恶化”，强调动态意义，所以宜用动名词。第二句中的speed of development 意思是“发展速度”，并不强调动态意义，所以用名词较好。
