close one day中，one day是名词作状语。这并不是省略了for。古英语中名词是可以做状语的，不过作状语的名词要用工具格。随着英语的发展，名词的格只有属格保留至今，其它格都消失了。但名词作状语这种形式却部分保留下来了。更多情况下，介词的使用替代了工具格作状语。
