He added: "So there's no shark DNA in Loch Ness based on our sampling. There is also no catfish DNA in Loch Ness based on our sampling. We can't find any evidence of sturgeon either, 这里面的based on也是当做介词来用的吧?

(2) 至于base 句型是base A on B, 如 base the story on his life

Jack based the story on Jill's life, and he worte it for two years.

The story was based on Jill's life, and he worte it for two years.

Based on Jill's life, the story was written by Lack.

The story, based on Jill's life, was written by Jack.

The story was written based on Jill's life.(when Jack lived in a small village).

= The story, based on Jill's life, was written (by Jack) when Jack he lived in a small village.

换句话说,according to 有限制性作用,而based on是开放性的。

1. I don't think the plesiosaur idea,based on the data that we have obtained,holds up.

Based on....

Based on the data, I think the trees didn't exist. (?)

Fowler's Dictionary of Modern English Usage
